Trento and Trentino
Sacred icons for Trento, the city of the Council
In December 1563, at the last session of the Council of Trent, the Church reaffirmed the legitimacy of venerating sacred images, as the Second Council of Nicaea had done in 787. In Trento, the icon finds a city that knows its theological foundation.

From images to their meaning
The Tridentine decree teaches that the honour given to an image passes to the one it represents: the same doctrine formulated at Nicaea in 787 in defence of icons. This is why an icon is not an ornament, but a presence pointing to the Prototype.
For scholars, teachers and those passionate about Church history, commissioning an icon is also a way to approach this theology of the image first-hand.

An icon of the Nativity or the Mother of God, commissioned in time, is a Christmas gift that stays in the family for generations. From Rovereto to Riva del Garda, from the Fiemme and Non valleys to Madonna di Campiglio, an icon of the patron saint accompanies baptisms, weddings and the opening of mountain huts, hotels and shops.
