Where the icons go

Commissioned sacred icons in Italy and Switzerland

The atelier is in Sicily, but Concetta Basile's icons are made to reach those who desire them wherever they are. Some places, however, have a special bond with sacred art and with the icon: here we tell which, and how to commission an icon if you live, own a home or celebrate an event there.

    One icon, many places

From the Byzantine icons of Rome to the gold grounds of Tuscany, from the bronze doors cast in Constantinople for Amalfi to the Orthodox churches of Trieste and Geneva: Italy and Switzerland hold a long history of dialogue with the Christian East. A hand-painted icon today becomes part of that story.
