A shared gift
Often it is the children, together with the grandchildren, who commission the icon for their parents: for Christmas, a wedding anniversary or a milestone birthday. On the back of the panel or in the booklet the givers' names and a dedication are written: it is the beginning of the icon's story in the family. Every icon is commissioned with an offering proportionate to the time and materials of the work, and arrives with a certificate of authenticity on real parchment, photographs of every stage and a booklet explaining its meaning.
