Pastor, anniversary, farewell
An icon as a gift for a priest
When a community wants to thank its priest it looks for a gift that means something to him: not one more object, but something that enters his prayer and accompanies his ministry. A hand-painted icon, commissioned together, is one of the finest gifts a parish can give.
The occasions
- Ordination anniversaries: the 10th, the 25th (silver jubilee), the 50th (golden jubilee) and the 60th.
- Farewell to a pastor leaving the parish after years of service, or welcome to a new pastor.
- Appointment as pastor, canon or bishop.
- Birthday, name day, patronal feast.

A community gift
Many icons for priests come from a collection among parishioners, groups and the pastoral council. On the back of the panel or in the booklet you can write the parish name, the dates of service and the names of the donors. During the work the commissioners can follow the stages of painting through the documented photographs. Like every icon by Concetta Basile, it is fully gilded with 23¾ karat gold, with inscriptions in Greek or Latin, and is commissioned with an offering proportionate to the time and materials of the work.
