Hand-painted sacred icons for South Tyrol
South Tyrol has one of the liveliest traditions of handcrafted sacred art in Europe: the woodcarving of Val Gardena, Gothic winged altarpieces such as Michael Pacher's in Gries, frescoed mountain churches. Anyone raised among these works immediately recognises the value of a hand-painted icon.

Two sacred crafts in dialogue
Woodcarving and the icon share the same raw material, wood, and the same principle: a work made by hand, slowly, for prayer. A Byzantine icon can stand beside a carved crucifix or a statue from the local tradition, completing the home's sacred corner (the Tyrolean «Herrgottswinkel»).
For homes, farmsteads and churches
For wood-panelled Stuben, medium sizes and panels with a raised border are often chosen; for churches and chapels, the patron saint of the parish or valley. Conversations take place in Italian or English.
The first conversation can take place online or in person. We ship worldwide: the icon is delivered with protective packaging and, on request, insured shipping, together with its certificate of authenticity on real parchment with photographs of every stage and its explanatory booklet in Italian or English. Shipping conditions are checked case by case at the time of commission.

Gift ideas in Bolzano, Merano, Brixen and nearby
The Christmas markets of Bolzano, Merano and Brixen are among the most loved in Europe, and for many families they are the moment to choose gifts. A hand-painted icon, beside a carved Val Gardena crucifix, completes the home's sacred corner. In the resorts of Val Gardena and Alta Badia, the opening of a hotel or a Stube can be marked with an icon of the patron saint.
