Bespoke projects
Bespoke sacred icons for architects and interior designers
An authentic icon is not a catalogue accessory: it is a made-to-measure work of art that enters the project as an architectural element. Concetta Basile works with architects and designers to integrate the icon into the space, the light and the project timeline.

What the brief defines
- Size and proportions: from 8×10 cm to 50×70 cm and beyond, made to measure for the niche, wall or chapel.
- Panel shape: rectangular, square, round, arched; single, diptych, triptych.
- Palette: colours of mantles, borders and grounds in dialogue with the project's materials.
- Gold: every icon is fully gilded with 23¾ karat gold.
- Frame or case: simple, carved or in fine wood (pine, walnut, cherry, oak) with anti-reflective glass.
- Light: orientation, daylight, accent lighting without direct heat on the surface.
Timing and documentation
An icon takes months: it should be built into the schedule from the earliest stages. During the work the client receives photographic documentation of every stage, useful for presentations to the end client; on delivery the work comes with its certificate of authenticity on real parchment.
