The first gift
Hand-painted icon for a baptism or a birth
Every newborn deserves the protection of the Mother of God and of their angel. An icon in the nursery watches over the child's sleep, accompanies them as they grow and one day will be theirs: the first gift that will last a lifetime.

Which subject to choose
The name saint
The icon of the saint whose name the child bears: their patron and companion on the way.
The Guardian Angel
Children's first prayer, becoming an image beside the cradle.
The Mother of Tenderness
The Virgin holding her Son cheek to cheek: maternal love and protection.
The Baptism of Christ
The icon of the Jordan feast, to remember the day of the sacrament.
The measure icon
An old Russian custom held that, at a child's birth, their patron saint was painted on a panel exactly as tall as the newborn. It is a deeply poetic gift that can be revived today: the panel preserves for ever the child's size on their first day.
A lifelong heirloom
The icon received at baptism accompanies the child forever: it watches over the nursery, follows them to the home they will make as an adult and one day may pass to their own children. It is a spiritual and material good that grows with them, documented by the certificate of authenticity on real parchment and photographs and recorded time of every stage of work.
Personalisation
On the back of the panel or in the booklet accompanying the icon you can record the child's name, date of birth or baptism, the parish and the names of godparents, grandparents or friends giving the gift. For a nursery, sizes from 12×16 to 24×30 cm and the round panel are often chosen.
